Kèr Rāstoèdmèt (Rāsto /ˈɛdmɛt/ [berry; bean] [empathy]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Kririsi̊mù Region of the Tetbur Commune.

The name Kèr Rāstoèdmèt is derived from the Tauric language, as Kèr Rāstoèdmèt was founded by Håhů Lowcock, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has a yearly average temperature of 29°C (84°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 32°C (89°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 27°C (80°F). Kèr Rāstoèdmèt receives an average of 211 cm/y (83 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Kèr Rāstoèdmèt covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4018 m (13182 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt was founded durring the late 15th century in winter of the year 1397, by Håhů Lowcock. The establishment of Kèr Rāstoèdmèt was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's construction back out of the project. Håhů Lowcock pushed on reguardles, and Kèr Rāstoèdmèt was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kèr Rāstoèdmèt is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber and earth construction, with most buildigns first floors resembling mounds of earth, with subsequent floors appearing as elaborate log cabins, with each building forming a tiered pyramid of sorts fromed from the stack of rectangular, peek roofed cabins. Most wooden bracing, support, and trim is carved with decorative knotwork, and the larger structures even feature painted trim which emphasises the knotwork.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of broad carved bedrock streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town is protected by a renforced stone fence which sits atop earthwork defences, for some of the best inexpencive defences a town of Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's size could have. Astonishigly, the well-designed, yet cheep are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Kèr Rāstoèdmèt’s streets.

Civic Infrastructure

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Kèr Rāstoèdmèt. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's parks.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Kèr Rāstoèdmèt.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has a first rate hospital which caters to anyone in need of long term medical care.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's natural decorations nor waterways.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt is led by one or more incompetents. While they must have been very good at something to have acquired the position, they are fundamentally incapable of leading. Uncontrolled passions or lusts, commitment to a hopelessly impractical ideal, pigheaded obstinacy in the face of failure, a total lack of charisma or interpersonal skills, or profound laziness might all unfit them for their post.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

In Kèr Rāstoèdmèt leaves and flower petals never touch the ground.

The Spriggan near Kèr Rāstoèdmèt are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves gestures to channel Truename Magic energies of tier 2 via recitation of poetic epics.

Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's roads were poorly made when first laid. Rather than repairing them correctly, a series of new roads was laid atop the old, leading to the streets of modern Kèr Rāstoèdmèt suffering from potholes, cracking, and even sinkholes. The locals often repair the road by putting down wooden decking.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Kèr Rāstoèdmèt was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Kèr Rāstoèdmèt lost 154 people, 349 livestock, and 96 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 142, when members of Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's militia enacted an operation to break a siege of a particular depot. The operation was complicated by an outbreak of plague which struck the ranks, killing many and laying low many more. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in defeat for Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Kèr Rāstoèdmèt's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
